Short answer. Instagram selfie video verification is a short clip you record inside the app, turning your head as the screen shows. Use one face, clear light, and no sunglasses. While Instagram reviews it, you stay logged out. Do not send that video to anyone, including us.
Instagram selfie video verification is the clip the app asks for when it wants to see that a real person owns the account. It shows up on disabled and suspended notices, and on some hacked-account flows. It is not a video you post, and it is not a file you email to a helper.
Instagram’s help page says they use the moving clip because a still photo can be edited. You turn your head the way the screen shows. While they review it, you stay logged out. If the clip is not accepted, the app can offer another try. If you skip the check, the screen can keep you out.
Record it so the first clip counts
Do this in the Instagram app, on the account that shows the notice.
One person in the frame. No friend leaning in, no child on your lap, no poster of a face behind you.
Light on your face. A window in front of you beats a dark room and a bright screen.
Take off sunglasses, a mask, and a hat that covers your eyes. Glasses you wear every day are fine if your eyes still show.
Hold the phone still and turn your head when the screen tells you to. Do the full turn. A frozen face is a photo, and that is the thing this check is built to reject.
Use the camera in the app. A video of another screen, or a photo held up to the camera, is not you moving.
Match the face to the person who owns the account. If this is a business profile in your name, you are still the one who records it. We cannot record it for you, and we do not want the file.
While you wait
You stay out of the account during the review. That is the normal screen, not a new ban on top of the old one. Watch the email address you entered for the check, including spam. Open the app again when you are ready to see the result. Do not keep starting a second clip if the first one is still in review.
If Instagram asks you to confirm an email or phone before the selfie, use the one on the account. A code sent to an inbox you cannot open will stall you before the camera even starts. Secure that inbox first if a hacker changed it. The steps are in Instagram hacked recover.
If the clip is not accepted
Read the screen. When it offers another upload, use it. Change the thing that failed: more light, a plainer background, a slower head turn, nothing covering your face. A clip that never uploads is video selfie not working. A clip Instagram refused is video selfie rejected.
If the 180 day line is on the same screen, disagree from that button while the count is there. See Instagram 180 days to disagree.
What not to send
Do not send the selfie to a WhatsApp number that found you first. Do not upload it to a website that is not Instagram. Do not hand a stranger your ID “so they can pass the check.” The check only counts inside the app, on the account named in the notice.
UnbanPro files the appeal around that check. We open support chats, send follow-up emails, and push the case hard until it gets looked at. It takes a few days. The face video stays with you.
How it works is three steps, starting with the username and a screenshot of the notice. Start a case on the contact page if email is easier than WhatsApp. Tell us you are stuck on the selfie screen, and attach the screenshot. Leave the video file out.
It is a video selfie Instagram asks for so they can see a real person move. Their help page says a still photo can be edited, so the clip asks you to turn your head. You record it in the app.
Why am I logged out while the selfie is reviewed?
Instagram's help page says you will not have access to the account until they confirm it is you. Wait for the result in the email you gave them, and in the app.
The selfie was not accepted. What now?
Instagram's help page says you can be offered another try in the app. Record it again in better light, with only your face in frame. If the app will not offer another try, screenshot the screen and send it to us.
Should I email the selfie to UnbanPro?
No. We never ask for the video, a passport scan, or your password. The check stays inside Instagram. Send the username and a screenshot of the notice instead.
